Reader Question :Lamp Shades

This is a bit overdue, but a reader recently asked me about vintage lamps and finding the right lamp shade for them, since let’s face it, usually vintage shades are gross, stained, or make the lamp look like a thrifted lamp versus a modern statement piece.

I pretty much always prefer drum shades. I don’t like when shades slope as a general rule. And a white, black, or natural linen shade always get a thumbs up.

You can always find some options online and here are some ones I like that are also affordable.

This one is $24.95 but was recently on sale for $17.96 and I imagine it will be again.

also $24.95

and surprise! $24.95 (Was also recently on sale for $17.96)

A Bit Contemporary

This chair may not be my exact style, but I think it is a strong piece that would work in SO.MANY.PEOPLE’S.HOME. And since it’s simple, it can take on so many different personalities depending on it’s surroundings. And it is TOUGH to find a non-vintage chair for under $200. The sell out risk is high on this one and when it comes back I imagine the price will be raised by about $20 : (

Paint by Numbers

I have a strange relationship with paint by numbers. I love them, but then I will decide I am “over” them, only to have crushes on them all over again. I am in the crush phase right now : )

And both of these are $10!!! The colors are fantastic in both of them.

Chair Sweet Chair

There is a good chance I have blogged about this chair before, but it really is so good. And while $173.99 per chair is not cheap the chair is wonderfully timeless. And it’s overstock…there are promo codes to be found!

Bell Butter Dish

I think this new butter dish from west elm is super sweet and $16. I don’t know many people that really have a special designated butter dish, but the shape lends itself to cheese as well. And if you’re eating outside, the more covered the better.

Couponing

SO, right now at Target select Morning star products are on sale for $2.99 each. If you look under Target Coupons there is a $1 off 2 packages of morning star products. Print one or two of those. Then print 2 of these morning star manufacturer’s coupon for $1 off 1 pack of morning star products. You can stack a manufacturer’s coupon with a store coupon. If you buy 2 packs of morning star products you will save $3. My sister printed but didn’t use her two coupons so I got 4 packages of morning star products for a grand total of $5.96. Saving myself $8.44 if I bought them at their full price of $3.40 each.

Also, this week there were free sharpies at target and free scotch tape (both on sale for $1 and then target has the sharpie coupons and the scotch coupons you can print right here.

Go grab some tomorrow while you can!

Unconventional Wedding Bands

It’s not the engagement that has made me ring crazy. I actually many many moons ago wrote a long post about very affordable engagement rings/ wedding bands…and the computer crashed : ( BUT these rings weren’t on my list and I LOVE them.

I will wear three rings (I have two of the three but not the wedding band yet) because I prefer the look of it and it must be genetic because my mom did the same when she was married.

This trio of 14k rings (Available in rose and pink gold too) are $225. And I think that is extremely affordable!

If you prefer gold filled or sterling there are many other even far more affordable options. Check out Nadine Jewelry right here!

Ribbon “Curtain”

I really think this idea from my Life as a Sugar Lander is great. It is 1) simple 2) affordable and 3) easy to diversify.

I think monochromatic in blushes or corals would be so pretty! Weddings, parties, holidays, this project suits it all
