The Kitchen Nook. Before and Afterish
SO, this was our kitchen nook:
We would have kept the wallpaper if it were actually vintage, weren’t missing a chunk, and lastly since we do have extra storage in there that is industrial it feels off to have a feminine wallpaper with it versus a stark wall.
So, we decided on chalkboard paint! We were going to get black walls in this house one way or another!
Here is the Afterish (I put...
coffeepots!
I wanted to reward myself for almost being done painting the kitchen nook in chalkboard paint (it will need a 3rd coat) and I wanted a little something pretty to be the table centerpiece in there.
I ended up buying a vintage Mikasa coffee/tea pot in the pattern pirouette from ebay BUT there is one on etsy as well right here.
In my search I came across some other contenders so of course, I...
Fantasizing about a new kitchen
We really do need to redo the countertops (there are three different ones in the kitchen!) and if you are redoing the countertops, then do the sink if you are going to do it…and if you do the sink and counters then while everything is up should you put in a new dishwasher…well if that’s stainless…should the other appliances be? And since you are doing the countertops and...
Searching for Sofas
Some friends in St. Louis are on the hunt for a new or new to them sofa, so they asked if I had any recommendations. I sent them some store ones and here are the ones I found on Craigslist. There are not a TON of great ones on that Craigslist right now, but still some VERY strong contenders.
I would call this one my top pick. I love the shape. They recovered in recently-ish and while beigey, I...
It's ALWAYS worth looking 2
I posted about this on my other blog but it certainly is worth repeating. For Drew and my seventh anniversary I found these vintage Bertoia chairs on the list of all list, good ole Craigslist for $160 for the pair! they are in GREAT condition. A very nice artsy woman’s friend gave them to her over 10 years ago and she bought them in the 60’s. There is no marking on them so I...
It's ALWAYS worth looking
My fireplace screen search has been going on since we bought the house. After visiting the local stores I realized they were all UGLY and EXPENSIVE. And as much as I love my fireplace it is very wide, which is wonderful for every other reason except for buying a screen for it. Well, I decided on this fireplace but check out the shopping results for it. When I was first looking the it was as high...

Farm Sink
I found this lovely sink on Craigslist for $175 in really good condition and asked them to send me the dimensions and photo bigger. It is WAY to big for our kitchen…but maybe if you are doing an affordable remodel this would be AWESOME.
